The company is based in Rome, well connected to transport networks, equipped with the main certifications and particularly sensitive to respect for the environment.

History

Immediately after the end of the Second World War, Calogero Aronica, a young Sicilian doctor transplanted to Rome, rummaging through the materials left in Naples in the Allied warehouses found some rolls of gummed paper strips used for composing telegrams, which he bought and resold. to Italcable,the company who managed the operation of transoceanic telegraphic communications.
Moving from trade to production represented a risky but fascinating gamble.
Eta-ro was born from this fortunate intuition.

  • 1950

    • ELCO Srl was founded on April 21, 1950. (it changed its name to Eta-ro Lavorazione Carta in Rotoli ten years after).
    • Buying of first slitting-rewinding cutting machine for paper rolls production
    • Building of first manufacturing plant in Rome, Via di Tor Sapienza.

  • 1960

    • The name of the company is changed to ETA-RO Lavorazione Carta in Rotoli S.p.A.
    • Expansion of manufacturing plant up to the actual size of 5.500 sqm
    • Eta-ro became italian leader in production of paper rolls for cash register, rolls and tapes for telex, carnival streamers

  • 1970

    • Start of cooperation with Olivetti Spa.
    • Buying of first coating machine for gummed and thermal paper production.
    • Eta-ro remained the sole suppliers of thermal paper fo Olivetti for more than fifteen years.

  • 1980

    • Realization of the first magnetic ink coating machine and production of the first magnetic tickets in Italy for highway toll collection.
    • Eta-ro started to supply the new ticket to Autostrada del Sole, today named Autostrade per l’Italia and to the other motorway toll collection company.
    • Ideally combining the tickets produced to date would result in a stripe that goes from the Earth to the Moon

  • 1990

    • First centralized supply of paper products to Post Ministry, today named Poste Italiane.
    • Eta-ro is rewarded for its thirty-year membership in Assografici, an association of graphic and paper converting companies affiliated with Confindustria.
    • Buying of first 4 colurs roto-offset printing machine.

  • 2000

    • Buying of first labels die-cutting machine
    • Intense cooperation with Poligrafico dello Stato in supplying all paper products connected to the change from Lira to Euro (cardboard boxes, envelopes, coins packaging rolls, banknotes packaging products)

  • 2010

    • Birth of project to create an environmentally friendly security envelope paper made.
    • The project named SELLOPE was co-funded by EASME (Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, an entity dependent on the European Community) as part of the "CIP Eco Innovation" initiative, which was developed to incentivize innovative products made from environmentally friendly materials.
    • Eta-ro produced more than 35 milion of envelopes till now

  • 2020

      Eta-ro celebrated 70 years of founding on 2020
    • Buying of first high production automatic labels die-cutting machine.
    • Eta-ro is rewarded for its sixtysix-year membership in Assografici-Unindustria.
